Phyllis Hays, 75, of McAlester, OK went to be with the LORD her Savior on May 21st in Sulphur Rock, AR. She enjoyed cooking, cake decorating, and playing the piano. Most of all, she loved the large family she had and always made sure to tell them so.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley Hibdon and Agnes Melugin; brother, Ronald Hibdon; sister, Gwenn Rae Dobbs; son in law, Roger Musser; two grandchildren, Ethan Polley and Charles Flanagan; and great-grandson, Samuel Musser. She is survived by her loving husband, Michael “Mickey” Hays; daughter and son in law, Donna and Charles Flanagan; son and daughter in law, Ronnie and Sherrie Polley; daughter, Rhonda Musser; and son and daughter in law, Bobby and Angie Polley; grandchildren, Roxanne Luellen, Alyssa Stark, Sean Musser, Donnie Polley, Amber Hensley, Christin Cumer, Tabbetha Polley, Cameron Polley, and Dameion Polley;  as well as many great-grandchildren.

Phyllis also had a large church family at Maple Springs Baptist’s church, and dearly loved her brothers and sisters in Christ. Her husband and childhood sweetheart, Mickey, was the love of her life. Together they loved reading the Bible, praying, playing with their dog Bella, and sharing stories for hours on end.  She loved the Lord and her pastor Brother Curt. She was always giving thanks to the Lord for how often he helped her and her church congregation. She was a woman who could always be counted on to pray, encourage, and compliment anyone. She was so generous with her love and was a servant at heart. Her smile could light up a room, and each sermon she attended was marked by shouts of her praise as “Amen!”, “Oh my” and “Praise God.” Though a woman of many past sorrows and physical ailments, she spent most of her time giving God the glory for her life. She was so very proud of her children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She kept contact with so many childhood friends and cherished those friendships dearly by spending time talking with and checking on them. While she will be missed by so many here, we know she is at home and in peace with the Lord.

The viewing will be at 2 p.m. Followed by a memorial service on her behalf at Maple Springs’s Baptist Church in Rosie, AR on Thursday, May 28th, 2020
