<p><strong>COLUMBUS --&nbsp;</strong>Ima Jean Kimbrell Painter, 84, of Columbus, went home to be with the Lord and reunited with her husband, Reverend William &ldquo;Bill&rdquo; Painter, Tuesday afternoon, May 26, 2020.</p> <p>A native of Polk County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Furman Kimbrell and Lillie Adams Kimbrell and widow of Reverend William B. &ldquo;Bill&rdquo; Painter who passed away in 2017. Mrs. Painter retired from Polk County Schools as a dietician. In addition to devoting her love and time to her family, she enjoyed reading, puzzles and traveling. Mrs. Painter was a member of Silver Creek Baptist Church.</p> <p>In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Painter and a granddaughter, Anna Smith.</p> <p>Surviving are her five children, Sharon Thompson (David) of Gaffney, SC, Willian Daniel Painter (Angela) of Green Creek, NC, John Painter (Dixie) of Tryon, NC, Melanie Smith (Chris) of Green Creek, NC, Marilyn Ingle (Randy) of Green Creek, NC; fourteen grandchildren, Jeanna Pressley (Nathan), William Thompson (Amanda), Stephanie New ( Brian), Erica&nbsp; Leeds (Benjamin), Daniel Painter, Bethany-Jean Lassiter (Anthony), Sarah-Ruth Painter, Mattie-Lou Painter, Elizabeth-Grace Painter, Eric Mews, Lillie-Mae Painter, Brandy Smith (fianc&eacute;, Kyle Rush), Trey Smith, Adam Smith, and Alex Ingle (Crystal).&nbsp; Also surviving are fifteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.</p> <p>A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 29, 2020 in Silver Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Robert Hefner and Dr. Chris Osborn officiating.</p> <p>The family will receive friends following the service in the cemetery.</p> <p>Social distancing guidelines will be followed.</p> <p>At other times, the family will be at the home of Danny and Angela Painter.</p> <p>Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels/The Meeting Place, 75 Carmel Lane, Columbus, NC 28782.</p>

COLUMBUS -- Ima Jean Kimbrell Painter, 84, of Columbus, went home to be with the Lord and reunited with her husband, Reverend William “Bill” Painter, Tuesday afternoon, May 26, 2020.

A native of Polk County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Furman Kimbrell and Lillie Adams Kimbrell and widow of Reverend William B. “Bill” Painter who passed away in 2017. Mrs. Painter retired from Polk County Schools as a dietician. In addition to devoting her love and time to her family, she enjoyed reading, puzzles and traveling.
