Obituary

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the death of a Wife, our mother, our sister, our Aunt but most importantly our Nana, Helen Laurana Landry of Lower Sackville, formerly of Louisdale, which occurred on May 23rd, 2020 at the Halifax Infirmary at the age of 67.

Born to the late Earl & Florence MacLeod, in 1953, Helen is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 48 years, Delore Landry. A man who stood by her side every day of her life, in sickness and in health, by her 2 children; Sheldon Landry (Rhonda) Lower Sackville and Amy Sellers (Adrian) Port Hawkesbury; grandchildren, her 3 little darlings; Blake, Cole and Bradon, who she adored with every ounce of her heart. They will always be the light of her life.

She is also survived by her 6 siblings: Joan MacKenzie, Lower Sackville; Kenny MacLeod, Dundee; Murdena Sampson (Wayne) Prince George, BC; Marion Stone, North Rustico PEI; Elaine Pottie, St. Peters; Nadine Samson, Lower Sackville.

Mom was by far the strongest woman we have ever known. Her courage was truly humbling beyond measure. She was afforded a second chance at life and she treated that opportunity with such appreciation. In 2008, she was diagnosed with Kidney Failure and was in immediate need of a Kidney Transplant. By the grace of God, our angel on earth, her sister and best friend Nadine, selflessly gave her the gift of life. A gift that gave us 12 more exceptional years with her and for that we are eternally grateful.

Moms career began with Lands & Forrest in 1972 Where she remained for 8 years. From there she began what would be a successful and decorated career with The Co-operators Insurance in 1985, a career that she was so proud of. In her 35 years with The Co-Operators, she formed everlasting friendships with both her coworkers and her clients that she was truly grateful for. It was humbling to witness the respect she was regularly shown from that family.

Mom saw such pleasures in the simple things in life, but there was nothing she loved more than to have all of her family beneath one roof for a "Little Gathering", times that she wholeheartedly cherished. From yard sales to flea markets, to thrift stores and lunch dates, mom enjoyed always being on the go. But there was nothing she loved more than her 3 grandchildren. They filled her heart with so much love and happiness and she appreciated every moment she had with them.

We are so grateful to Dad, who displayed the utmost compassion to mom in her times of need. The love they shared was the epitome of “For Better or Worse", how lucky was she!

The family would like to take this opportunity to extend our sincere thanks to all of Mom's doctors, nurses, specialists and her Transplant Team who consistently provided mom with exceptional care.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

In Memory of Helen, donations can be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada or to a charity of your choice.
