H MARIE WATT Obituary

H. Marie Watt, 90, of Seaford, Delaware went to be with the Lord on 5/23/2020 after a valiant battle with a long illness.  She was at home surrounded by her loving family.

Marie was the daughter of the late G. George and Elna C. Larsson.  Marie was born, raised, and educated in Boston, Massachusetts. She graduated from Hyde Park High School in 1947.  She worked in banking upon graduation and met Bill, the love of her life, at a Swedish dance.  They were married on February 2, 1951 and moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee when Bill took a job with the DuPont Company.  They transferred to Seaford in 1958 where they raised their family.

Marie lived a full and happy life as a wonderful wife, mother, Nana, and friend.  She had an outgoing personality and wonderful sense of humor.  She enjoyed music, playing the piano, singing, dancing, movies, collecting dolls, and family gatherings.

Marie stood as the perfect example of what it means to be a Godly woman.  Her Christian faith was the most important part of her life.  She talked the talk and walked the walk.  She was in church when the doors were open and active in many ministries serving Jesus and other people.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Carol Cass, and her grandson Mark Thomas.

Marie is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 69 years, William Watt (“My Bill”), her 4 children: Elna Watt, Nancy Thomas (Ray), Kristine Gholdston (Daniel), and Daniel Watt, grandchildren: Leah Dickerson (Rook), Rachel Gibson, Aaron Gholdston, great-grandchildren: Olivia, Dylan, and Drew Dickerson, Caroline White, and Genevieve Gibson, daughters from other mothers: Dee Sard and Julie Messick, and several nieces and nephews.  All loved her dearly and will never forget her love and caring for them.

A private family “Celebration of Life” will be held on Wednesday, 5/27/2020.

Our family wishes to express our thanks and appreciation to Vitas Hospice and Griswold Home Care.
