ROSEMARY S. RIVERA, 71, a resident of Española, who was a loving mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, May 21, 2020. Rosemary was preceded in death by her son, Lawrence Salazar; granddaughter, Angel Rose Martinez; step-son, Manuel Sandoval; love/soulmate, Damian Sandoval; father, Andres Salazar; brother, Alex Salazar; sisters, Patricia (Pat) Lewis and brother-in-law, Michael Valdez, Sr. She is survived by her daughters, Valerie Rivera Martinez (Frankie Kiko Martinez) and Leesa Reed; step-son, Isaac “Saco” Padilla (Celeste); daughter-in-law, Faith Sandoval; grandchildren, Beau (Bo) and Dannicca Martinez, Isaac and Brittany Reed, Damian Padilla, Manuel, Jr., Alyana, Mia, Sienna and Jazarae Sandoval; mother, Grace Salazar; sisters, Romanita Salazar and Teresita Valdez; brother, Sam Salazar (Shirley); 9 nieces and nephews; 9 great-nieces and nephews; best friends/sisters, Anita Apodaca, Denise Angel, Bernice Atencio, Maria Sandoval and Carol Martinez and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Monday, June 1, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, there will be a 75-person limit inside the funeral home. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz, with a burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers will be, Adam Chavez, Dominic Trujillo, Andres Acosta, Alejandro Mascareñas, Michael Valdez, Jr., Jessie Lewis and Tim and John Martinez. Honorary pallbearers named are, Frankie (Kiko) Martinez, Beau (Bo) and Dannicca Martinez, Romanita Salazar, Manuel Sandoval, Jr., Faith Sandoval and Isaac Padilla. The family would like to thank Lugi Romero for the donation of the urn and the Valdez family for making the beautiful box to place the urn in. The family of Rosemary S. Rivera has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
