Keith David Obituary
Keith David was born on July 12, 1957 in New York City, to Hentlyn (Helen) Brown David and Reginald David. He departed this life to be with the Lord on Monday, May 18, 2020.
The fifth of eight siblings, Keith grew up in the South Bronx at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue, the building where the musical genre of hip-hop was being born. Undoubtedly, Keith developed his great love for music and dancing there and then. It was during this time that he met his childhood sweetheart and devoted life partner, Evette. In 1975, Keith graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. In 1979, he and Evette were married.
Keith and Evette settled and raised a family in Roselle, New Jersey. The community remembers Keith for the indelible mark he left in his thirty years of dedicated service as a youth basketball coach and mentor. Among family and friends, Keith was affectionately known for his sense of humor and for being unconditionally loving and supportive. His passion for fun, dancing, and bringing people together affected all who knew him.
In his professional career, Keith served as a highly skilled aircraft mechanic, and developed a specialty in electrical work. In his later years Keith’s interests expanded into home improvement, a passion which he shared with his children and grandchildren.
Keith is survived by his wife, Evette; daughter, Jenee; sons: Keith and Kameron; grandchildren: Mia, Aniya, Kayden and Bryson; brothers: Ronald, Lawrence and Donald; sisters: Regina and Kim; countless nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, mentees and loving friends.
