Graveside services for Carl Theron Holt, 88, of Paradise, Texas will be 2:00 pm Saturday, June 6, 2020 in Paradise Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Charles Pugh and Harold Remmele. The service will be live-streamed and viewable on the Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home Facebook page, begining at 2:00 pm on June 6. Pallbearers are grandsons Dale Holt, Gary Holt, Curt Hensley, Johnathan Foreman, and Aaron Holt. There will be open viewing Friday June 5 from 12-8 pm at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. He passed away Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, 2020 in Decatur, Texas. Theron was born December 29, 1931 in Bridgeport, Texas to Carl Wesley Holt and wife Natalie Maria (Bevill) Holt. He married Mary Jane ‘Janie’ Tackel February 24, 1951, and the couple celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary this year. He worked many years for Gifford-Hill and Vulcan rock crushers as a machine shovel operator. Later he worked for Wackenhut Prison System in Bridgeport, delivering and picking up prisoners to Huntsville Prison. For the long trip he would snack on Atomic Fireballs to keep him awake. Theron loved to hunt and fish. He was also a big sports fan and for years had season tickets to watch the Dallas Cowboys, and he enjoyed watching Texas Rangers baseball. In his younger years he coached little league and pony league baseball. The family even put together a co-ed Katz softball team, where he was the star pitcher until giving up the game in his mid-sixties. More than anything, Theron, known as Pop, loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Janie Holt of Paradise; sons Ronny Holt and wife Mary of Paradise and Glen Holt and wife Debbie of Springtown, Texas: daughters Karen Holt, Renea Remmele and husband Harold, Beverly Hensley and husband Steve, and DeLaine Foreman and husband Tom, all of Paradise; 13 grandchildren: Dale Holt of Paradise, Gary Holt of Paradise, Holly Wilson of Creede, Colorado, Syndie Rainwater of Paradise, Misty Barnett of Lubbock, Texas, Traci Woodard of Paradise, Jamie Ward of Olney, Texas, Curt Hensley of Paradise, Keila Strader of Frisco, Texas, Kirsten Singleton of Runaway Bay, Texas, Johnathan Foreman of Weatherford, Texas, Aaron Holt of Runaway Bay, and Janie Bolte of Dalhart, Texas; 44 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; sisters Norma Parsons of Azle, Texas, Carol Richardson and Carla Wood, both of Paradise; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
