It is with immense sorrow that the family of the late Samuel "Sam" Francis Drover announces his passing. Sam passed away at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on Monday, May 25th, 2020 at the age of 70 years. Sam is predeceased by his parents – Bernard & Alice Drover; parents-in-law – Patrick & Bertha Furey; step father-in-law – Jim Rideout; siblings – Elizabeth Skinner (William), Mary Fahey (Tom), Theresa Dobbin (Gordon), Cyril Drover (Anastasia), Elias Drover and Dorothy Drover and siblings-in-law – Thomas Furey, Patrick Furey and Edward Hynes. Left to cherish a lifetime of wonderful memories is his wife of 46 years – Peggy Drover, Harbour Round, NL; children – Louise Drover (Maurice), Nipper’s Harbour, NL, Philip Drover (Dinah), Harbour Round, NL, Catherine Saunders (Rod), Cold Lake, AB, Scott Drover (Samantha), Bertha Drover, both of Harbour Round, NL, Stephanie Osbourne (Sandy), Baie Verte, NL and Stacey Drover (Tommy), Conception Bay South, NL; granddaughter whom Sam & Peggy raised – Tamara; grandchildren – Rachel, Marissa, Andrew, Zoey, Maia, Katie & Elliott; siblings – Josephine McKay, Clara Hynes, Peggy Andrews (Bruce), Jack Drover, Michael Drover (Effie), Stella Drover and Beatrice Sullivan (Thomas); siblings-in-law – Loretta Caines (Bob), Catherine Haas (Melvin), Judy Haas (Max) Bertha Furey (Jamie), Karen Fewer, Philip Furey, Madonna Furey and Brenda Furey; special nephew – Dave Drover (Roxane) as well as large circles of nieces, nephews, extended family and innumerable friends. A heart full of thanks is extended to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre and the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre for their loving care over the years. A special thanks extended to nurse Connie Decker for her professional, extraordinary care of our Dad. Due to the COVID-19 Global Pandemic, the Public Health Advisory and associated restrictions, we regret to announce that there will be no Public Visitation or Mass of Christian Burial. Father Camillus Ekedobe conducted a Private Family Interment at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Cemetery, Harbour Round, NL. We encourage extended family and friends to share condolences, memories and/or photos to Sam's memorial wall, available on our website. All items will be documented and displayed in our personalized guestbook and presented to the Drover family. As an expression of sympathy, flowers are gratefully accepted, or donations may be made in Sam's memory to a charity of one's choice.
