<p>Lloyd Vearle Payne passed from this life unexpectedly on July 21, 2019.&nbsp; Born in Lordsburg on September 15, 1939 to Harry Vearle and Mandona Hanchett Payne, Lloyd grew up in Lordsburg, graduating from LHS in 1957.&nbsp; He married Carolyn Davis in 1958 and they have 6 children, Taylor Vearle (Janie Rasmussen) of Safford, AZ, Alice (Tom) Webb of St. Johns, AZ, Paralee (Scott) Richins of Animas, NM, Dona (Brian) Wilson of Grantsville, Ut., Jossanne (David) Neil of Gila, NM and Kathryn (Mike) Evans of St. Helens, OR.&nbsp; He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Carolyn, their children, 33 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 7 of his siblings, Vern Payne, Ruth Palmer, James Payne, Mary Hartman, John Payne, Roger Payne and Judy Meyer.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>He received his Bachelor&rsquo;s of Education from Western New Mexico University in 1962 and taught school for a number of years.&nbsp; He served on the Hidalgo County Commission for numerous terms and also served as Hidalgo County Sherriff.&nbsp; He worked to better his community and loved his students and the teaching profession.&nbsp; Projects he worked on while serving as a commissioner were the County Transfer Station and the HMS Clinic, among numerous others for Hidalgo County and in the State of New Mexico.&nbsp; He also served as Probate Judge for Hidalgo County before his retirement in 2013.</p> <p>He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in numerous capacities over his lifetime as a teacher and leader.&nbsp; He was involved in scouting and other youth programs and participated in leadership positions.&nbsp; He loved the Lord, his family and his community.&nbsp; Services will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the Lordsburg High School Gymnasium.&nbsp;</p> <p>Lordsburg/Bright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. &ldquo;Traditional Services and Care for your family and friends.&rdquo; 408 S.
