Ronald Clarence Wenberg Obituary

Ronald Clarence Wenberg, age 82, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the evening of Friday, May 22, 2020 after a long and brave battle against cancer. Born on December 24, 1937 to Clarence O. Wenberg and Myrtle B. Wenberg (nee Norling) in Chicago, Illinois. The oldest of five, Ron and his family moved to the Northern Virginia area when he was around 2-3 years old, where he grew up and was a member of the first graduating class of Annandale High School. After graduating, Ron went on to work for IBM and became a member of the Army National Guard. He then went on to become a police officer with the Fairfax County Police Department for 20 years, serving in various departments throughout his career. After retiring from the Police Department, Ron went on to work construction and then as private security for Paul Mellon for 20 years before finally retiring. While he was retired, Ron enjoyed many different activities, because even though he wasn’t officially employed, he never liked just being still. He loved to fish, build birdhouses and later on model airplanes, and spending a lot of time with his grandchildren. Ron also loved to continuously be an active member of his community and even received a special recognition by the mayor in 2008 for his contributions to his neighbors. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Christine O. Wenberg; his three children, Mark Wenberg, Kim Moffett (Larry), and Charles Wenberg; his seven grandchildren, Natasha, Kara, Reginald, Daniel, Elise, Samantha, and Allison; one great-grandson, Bjorn; three siblings, Alan (Alcinda), James (Nancy), and Phyllis, along with his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother and father, as well as his brother Vernon. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to either the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and/or VITAS Community Connection.
