Ray P. Simpson, Jr. passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2020 in Hereford, Texas Funeral service will be Friday, May 29, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Hereford with Reverend Kevin Bushart officiating. Burial will follow the service at West Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at Parkside Funeral Home Thursday, May 28, 2020 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Ray was born on December 20, 1933 to Ray and Ora Mae Simpson in Big Spring, Texas. He graduated from Stanton High School in 1951 and from Texas Tech University in 1955. He married Yvonne Ory on June 11, 1955 in Stanton, Texas. He went into the United States Air Force in 1955 and served until 1958. Ray and Yvonne moved their family to Hereford in 1962 from Odessa, Texas for his employment with Deaf Smith REC. He was later employed by Allred Oil Company and Goodin Fuels as sales manager. Ray was a long time member of First United Methodist Church of Hereford where he enjoyed fellowship with the men's coffee group. He was a member of the Lyons Club, Masonic Lodge and Kiva Shrine Temple. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and RV travel with family and friends. Ray is survived by his wife Yvonne Simpson of Hereford, Texas, one son, Carl Simpson of Hereford, Texas and two daughters, Kim Sliney and husband John of Hereford, Texas and Janis Artho and husband David of Canyon, Texas. Also left to cherish his memory are eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren: Jamie Liles and husband Steven, Parker and Ryder Grace Liles; Julie Simpson and Avery Lamar; Carlie Simpson; Darren Sliney and wife Irene Kwong, Jake and Lily Sliney; Kara Sliney and fiance Tristian Neal and Layken Neal; Paula Schwertner and husband Eric, Brianna, Katelyn and Gracey Schwertner; Kayla Talbott and husband Clint, Graham and Brady Talbott, Shelly Cresap and husband Bryan, Hailey and Ava Cresap. He was preceded in death by his parents and aunt Margaret Moffett. The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church of Hereford, Texas and Kings Manor Methodist Retirement System of Hereford, Texas.
