Dennis William Mayer, 60, of Bethany, passed away 3:57 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur. Private family graveside services will be held at Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan, with Military Rites by the Sullivan American Legion Post #68. McMullin-Young Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements. Dennis was born August, 13, 1959, in Centreville, the son of Bill Noel and Carol Jean (Dover) Mayer. He served in the United States Army as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. Dennis enjoyed fishing, woodworking crafts and playing darts. Dennis loved spending time with his family and friends. Dennis is survived by his wife, Wanda of Bethany; brothers, Billy N. (Sheryl) Mayer, Jr. of Carlinville and Gregory A. (Kathy) Mayer of Mount Olive; step-children, Nicki, Blake, Derek and Jessi. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Steve and step-son, Mike.
