Joyce Dean (Watkins) Dills was born April 9, 1933 in Galena, Kansas to Cecil and Ida (Mace) Watkins. She departed this life on Saturday, May 23, 2020 in Salina, Oklahoma at the age of 87 years, 1 months, and 14 days. Joyce graduated from Riverton High School. In 1951, Joyce Watkins married the love of her life and the father of her children, Jesse Calvin LeRoy. She has been a resident of Locust Grove for the past 10 year, moving here from Tulsa. Joyce worked as a CNA and med nurse for various nursing homes in Tulsa area. She also was employed as a security officer for the City of Tulsa for several years. Joyce was a member of Sleepy Hollow Hill House of Prayer in Salina, Oklahoma. She considered herself a “farm girl”, walking through snow tunnels as a young girl to milk and feed the cows. Joyce was known for her “green thumb” and loved spending time in the garden, planting flowers and canning vegetables. She enjoyed reading detective stories, sewing, crocheting baby blankets, and raising her children. She will be missed dearly by each of them as well as by her friends. Joyce is survived by one son, Bruce LeRoy and his wife, Judy of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; two daughters, Susan Patterson and husband, Brian of Cushing, Oklahoma and Joann LeRoy of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; one sister, Helen Bateman of West Virginia; one sister-in-law, Lela LeRoy Johnson of Pineville, Missouri; 11 grandchildren, Jeremy LeRoy, Justin LeRoy and his wife, Garon, Geneva Arnn, April Walker and her husband, James, Brianna Patterson, Rachel Harper and husband, Phillip, Jessica Harper, William Harper, Sarah Cook, Shantel Brewer and husband Joel, and Shannon LeRoy; 42 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Ronnie LeRoy; six brothers, Donald, Robert, Clifford, Henry, Cecil, and John Watkins; and two sister, Dorothy Hayes and Mary Ann Setter. Funeral services were 2:00 P.M., Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Locust Grove Funeral Home Chapel in Locust Grove. Pastor Loretta Lane and Zalenda Blancett officiated. Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
