<p><strong><span style="font-size:18px;">Monroe Mortuary Services&nbsp;request that you wear your mask when entering the funeral home for the safety of the public and our staff.&nbsp; Thank you for your cooperation!</span></strong></p> <hr /> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:18px;">Regina Hood was born August 14, 1934 in Waxhaw, North Carolina to the late Hazel Hood and Lula Stinson Hood.&nbsp; She gained her heavenly wings sleeping peacefully on May 23, 2020.</span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:18px;">Regina was educated in the Union County Public School System and graduated from Western Union High School in 1952.</span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:18px;">Regina accepted Christ at an early age and joined Shiloh Presbyterian Church in Waxhaw, North Carolina.&nbsp; She later attended Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Waxhaw, North Carolina where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for several years and remained a faithful Sunday School Class Member.&nbsp; She loved to study the bible.&nbsp; Some of her favorite scriptures are Psalms 23, Psalm 51, Psalm 86, Psalm 103, I Corinthians 15:54-55, Hebrews 11:1,6, Hebrews 12:1-3 and I John 2:15-17.</span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:18px;">As the family matriarch, Regina was well-respected.&nbsp; We are better for having known her.&nbsp; She loved spending time with family and friends and sharing her delicious pound cakes and German chocolate cakes.&nbsp; She often received requests to bake cakes for special occasions.&nbsp; She loved gardening and sharing the harvest.&nbsp; Mowing the lawn was a form of exercise for her, which she continued until the age of 83.</span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:18px;">Regina was preceded in death by three brothers: Hazel Hood, Jr., William Hood (Florence-deceased) and James Ervin Hood.</span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:18px;">She leaves to celebrate her precious memories two sisters: Cecelia Hood and Mattie Elaine Hood; sister in-law: Patricia Hood; devoted cousin: Virgil Ivey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.</span></p>
