Jay S. Estling Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in Roosevelt, MN at the age of 81.

Jay was the first child of Jay S. Estling Sr and Jeanette (Jacobson).  He was a farmer all of his life!  He helped his dad and uncles break land to get Estling Farms where it is today.  He attended school in Roosevelt until his last couple of years, he went to Crookston Ag.  He went to the University of Minnesota for two years, and decided farming was for him.  He spent nearly two years in the U.S. Army.  He and Peggy (Pederson) were married in August of 1968.  They had two children, Shawn and Corey; and six beautiful granddaughters.

He loved all kinds of sports…football (the Minnesota Vikings) and hockey (the Minnesota Wild) and baseball (the Minnesota Twins).  He was a Minnesota guy through and through!  He also loved to watch his granddaughters play the sports they were in from cross country, track, hockey and their band and choir.  He also enjoyed playing fast-pitch softball.  He played for Williams until he was at least 50 years old.  He was a member of Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church where he was on the council and taught Sunday school.  He was on the Laona Township council for many years and the Roseau Soil and Water board as well.  He served his time on the Warroad School Board, and was a member of the Lake of the Woods Steam and Gas.  He enjoyed snowmobiling, riding 4-wheeler, going camping and hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy of Roosevelt; Shawn (Tony) Brunelle of Warroad and Corey (Erin) Estling of Williams, MN; granddaughters, Gretta, Emma and Kamarra Brunelle and Lauren, Peyton and Nora Estling who where the sparkle of his eye.  Also surviving are brothers, Spencer Estling and Rodney (Lorraine) Estling; sister, Janice (Rich) Reinhart; several nieces, nephews and lots of cousins.
