Frederick J. Blakley died on Friday, May 22, 2020 at Lincoln Park Care Center in Lincoln Park. He was 75. He was born on June 8, 1944 in Dover. As a child Fred lived in Hibernia, in 1970 he moved to Rockaway Borough before settling in Dover in 1994. Mr. Blakley was a Security Guard at Wells Fargo before retiring, he had previously worked at Picatinny Arsenal in Rockaway Twp. for 10 years. He obtained the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America and was a Boy Scout Leader at Sacred Heart Church in Rockaway. Mr. Blakley was also a member of the St. John's Lodge F&AM of Mountain Lakes for 40 years. His weakness was ketchup, and he enjoyed it on almost every food he ate! He is survived by his lifetime companion of over 40 years, Joann Hillabrant; two daughters, Amber (Chris) Laccitiello of Rockaway and Pamela Blakley of Paterson; his grandson Gregory Smyth of Lake Hopatcong; and two Aunts, Joan Dermeritt and Theresa Corby both of Rockaway. Due to current health and public safety regulations, services will be private with a burial at Locust Hill Cemetery in Dover. A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date when permissible.
