<p>Julia Trujillo, 104 years old, died May 23, 2020 at her home of natural causes.</p> <p>She was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on August 13, 1915. When she was the age of three the family moved to Salida where her father was employed by the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad. She was two years old during the Spanish Flu Pandemic and lived to witness a second severe pandemic.</p> <p>She attended St. Joseph Catholic School and Salida High School. She married Chris Trujillo on February 23, 1934, raised two children in Salida, and was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church.</p> <p>Julia, husband Chris, and son Andy entertained local residents, soldiers from Camp Hale, and Fort Carson every weekend during the 40&rsquo;s and 50&rsquo;s with their music at Sam&rsquo;s Club, a dance hall in Smelter Town. In 1960 Chris and Julia opened their restaurant; Chris&rsquo;s Taco Caf&eacute; and operated the restaurant until their retirement.</p> <p>Survivors include her daughter, Ramona, five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchildren.</p> <p>Memorial services will be held at a later date.</p> <p>Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Joseph Catholic Church.</p> <p>Online condolences may be made at www.lewisandglenn.com</p>
