Thomas Allen "Tanner" Oubre Obituary

Thomas Allen “Tanner” Oubre, 88, of Florence, Mississippi, passed away Sat. May 23, 2020 at his home. Graveside services will be held at 10am on Mon. May 25, 2020 at the Florence Cemetery in Florence, MS. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS is handling arrangements.

Thomas was born October 22, 1931 in Scooba, Mississippi to Thomas Lipton and Hazel Byrd Oubre. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1950. After serving in the U.S. Navy for 4 years he married Marilyn Weems in Jackson, MS, on August 19, 1955. Thomas and Marilyn operated a grocery store in Florence from the early ‘70s to early ‘80s called Tom’s Fairway. Thomas also worked as a salesman for Jackson Packing Co. and Enslin & Son Packing Co. After Marilyn died in 2002, he married Mrs. Mazelle Holbrook in Florence on May 5, 2007.

Thomas is survived by three sons, Danny Oubre and his wife Gina of Brandon, Kenny Oubre and his wife Renee of Florence, and Stephen Oubre and his wife Dawn of Flowood; 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; his sister Donna Oubre Trigg(Rufus) of Seminary, MS, and a brother Joe Rebecca of Scooba, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives Marilyn and Mazelle, brother Jim Oubre, sister Undine Oubre Richardson, and great granddaughter Madalyn Bartley.

The family would like to thank Tracey Floyd and her staff at Plain View Assisted Living for their love and patience to Thomas during his stay.  May God continue to bless them as they provide care to our elderly loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made in Thomas Oubre’s honor to the Salvation Army, P. O. Box 31954, Jackson, MS, 39286.
