Healdton - Remembrance services for Mr. Gary Lynn Featherston, 68, are scheduled for 2:00 pm Wed. May 27, 2020 at the Healdton First Christian Church with Sean Emerson officiating. Interment will follow at the Mount Olive Cemetery of Healdton. Everyone in attendance of service are requested by the family to wear a facial mask for everyone's protection. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Healdton, 65 Golf Course Rd. (580) 229-2222
Gary was born April 17, 1952 at Ardmore to the late Mr. George Clyde Featherston and Mrs. Betty "June" Featherston. He departed from this life on Friday, May 22, 2020 at his home in Ardmore.
Gary was raised in Healdton graduating high school in 1970. He furthered his education at SOSU of Durant studying wildlife biology for two years. He met the love of his life, the former Ms. Carolyn Sue Rossman, while helping the Tayar's with a service call in Healdton. A couple of years later, they were united in marriage on October 7, 1972 at the Healdton First Christian Church.
Together they resided mostly at Healdton until 1992 when they relocated to Ardmore, where Gary was employed with Uniroyal/Michelin. He retired from the shipping department of Michelin in 2004 after several years of employment. They had moved to the Oswalt and Overbrook area and Gary found employment with Love County District III. There, he mostly drove a truck and operated equipment, until he fully retired in 2009.
Gary always enjoyed being outside, especially when he was hunting or fishing. In his earlier years, he enjoyed deer hunting, but later became an avid duck hunter. His love for hunting and muscle cars were the joy of his life. None to many were a better marksman than Gary. He loved the Lord with all of his heart and professed his faith through his works. He was a lifetime member of the Healdton First Christian Church.
He is preceded in death by his father, Mr. George C. Featherston, March 16, 2006 and his mother, Mrs. Betty "June" Featherston, January 26, 2019.
Survivors are his wife of 47 years, Mrs. Carolyn Featherston, of Ardmore; son, Bryan Featherston and his fiancee, Sabrina of Hobbs, NM; grandchildren, Morgan Danielle Featherston, Gary Hunter Featherston and Alice Sue Featherston; brothers, Greg Featherston and wife Jane of Apache and Grant Featherston of Kingston; uncle, Jimmy Davis of Duncan; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family.
Casket bearers are Jeff Singleton, Kendric Reed, Andy Reed, Patrick Paul, Greg Greenwood and Nick Barber.
Honorary bearers are Gavin Featherston, Kristopher Rossman, Conner Rossman, Rick Rossman and Don Rossman.
Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday evening at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Healdton.
