Nancy Elois Brock Long Obituary

Nancy Elois Brock Long was born September 18, 1927 to Grant A. and Lester Adline Gobbell Brock.  She passed from this earth on Friday, May 22, 2020, at the age of 92.

Elois was a hard worker. She raised four boys through their teenage years after their dad was killed in an auto accident in 1964.  She was a caregiver to her aunts and uncles that never married.  To her sons and their families, if they were sick you could depend on Grandma (that’s what everyone called her) to bring a full meal with desserts delivered to them.  She always put her family’s needs before her own.  She was a farmer, raising various crops, and had milk cows.  Later on she went to beef cattle which she help care for with her sons and grandson Scott up until four years ago.  Elois retired from Murray after 20 years of service.  She was a member of Henryville United Methodist Church. She was a pioneer forging out her place in the world.  We know she is in a better place, now she can rest, but she will be missed by all that knew her.

Those who preceded her in death; parents, Grant A. and Lester Adline Gobbell Brock; husband, James Burl Long; two sons, David and Alfred Long; two granddaughters, Amy Long McKay and Chylene Dawn Long; one great-granddaughter, Janice McKay; one daughter-in-law, Glenda Keeton Long; and three brothers, Kenneth, Allen and Vance Brock.

Survivors include sons, Benny (Trisha) Long of the Center Community and Danny (Rita) Long of Lawrenceburg; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Long; nine grandchildren, Scott (Rita) Long, Mark Long, Sherry Long, Tonya (Greg) Brown, Chris (Amandia) Long, Josh Long, Meleah (Tyler) Cozart, Shannon (Johnny) Suratt, and Shane (Jodi)  Long; sixteen great-grandchildren; fourteen great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law, Dot Brock, Helen (Wilford) York, and Pauline Hamann.

Special thanks to Hospice, all caregivers especially her granddaughter, Sherry.
