Burl J. Smith, 88, passed away 4:14 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Courtyard Estates, Sullivan. Private immediate family services will be held at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Bethany. Memorials may be made to Courtyard Estates, 20 Courtyard, Blvd. Sullivan Burl was born May 16, 1932 in Coal Hill, AR, the son of Burley J. and Eunice (Chapman) Smith. He married Betty Sue Moore on March 21, 1953 in Osceola, AR. She preceded him in death on September 14, 2004. Burl enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing the lottery, but he especially loved his grandchildren. Burl is survived by his sons, Danny (Kathy) Smith of Pana, Larry (Marcia) Smith of Sullivan; daughters, Sharon (Mike) Roberts of Clinton and Karen Scribner of Sullivan; sister, Georgia Clayton of Louisiana; 24 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. Burl was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Betty, 2 sister and 2 brothers.
