Martin John Braasch was born July 26, 1987, to Robert John and Patricia (Brockel) Braasch in Aberdeen, SD. He grew up in Spink County near Mellette, SD. Martin attended school at Northwestern, graduating from Northwestern High School in 2006. He then attended Lake Area Tech in Watertown, SD, for two years. Martin worked various construction jobs before starting work at Midstates Printing where he has been for the last nine years. Martin met Jennifer Schaeffer on January 1, 2018. He loved being with her and her kids, and after two and a half years of dating they became engaged on November 18, 2019. They were planning on a July 2021 wedding. He loved to spoil the kids and took them to Thunder Road a lot. There were also many miniature golf dates. Martin loved to watch the Hotshots during the summer months and going to Hot Summer Nights car show. His favorite show was Impractical Jokers. Our family loved going to the movies, especially the drive-in. Martin was an avid Aberdeen Wings Hockey fan. He attended every home game and would be found watching or listening to all their away games. He loved to tinker with electronics, his phone, and adding every electronic device he could to his vehicles. Animals held a special place in Martin’s heart, and he adored his two cats. He loved country music and could name a song and who sang it with just a few notes. He loved the Brown County Fair and going to the concerts. Martin always made himself the designated driver when out with friends. Grateful for having shared Martin’s life are parents: Robert and Patricia Braasch, Aberdeen; fiancé: Jennifer Schaeffer and her children, Caleb and Elizabeth, which he loved as his own; three aunts: Cheryl Leyde, Apple Valley, CA, Cynthia (Lon) Bauer, Java, SD, and Barb (Mark) Hawkins, Thackerville, OK; and his cousins: Mike (Theresa) Wolff, Matt (Lea) Bauer, Gwen (Corby) Weron, Adriane Ramsey, Jeanetta (Shelby) Stewart, and Dana (Amanda) Wolff. Preceding Martin in death are his grandparents: William and Edna Braasch and Elmer and Janet Brockel; and his cousin Damian Lucas.
