Betty J. Pelkey, age 95, of Stanton, died Friday, May 22, 2020 at her home. Private interment will be at Stanton Cemetery. Arrangements are being completed by the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault. Betty Jean, the daughter of Amos and Carrie (Orchard) Swinton was born on March 9, 1925 in Northfield. She married Robert Pelkey on December 8, 1945 at the Stanton Parsonage. Betty earned her teaching certificate and taught in a one room school house in the Stanton area. She went on to become a cook at Randolph Schools and later Carlton College. Betty enjoyed playing the organ at the Stanton Methodist Church for 50 years, baking angel food cake and time spent with her family. Survivors include her son, James (and Darlene) Pelkey of Cannon Falls, three grandchildren, Keith (and Susan) Pelkey of Kenyon, Karen (and Mick) Canedy of Northfield and Katie (and Jim) Creighton of Randolph; eight great grandchildren, Brent and Ryan Pelkey, Katelyn, Ashley, Emily and Lindsey Canedy and Cody and Jace Creighton; four great great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren and four step great great grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert in 2012 and one brother.
