Wood Herbert Smith

<p>Wood Herbert Smith III, age 66, died on the 22nd day of May 2020, following a long battle with COPD.</p> <p>Born September 18, 1953 in Austin, Texas, he was the son of the late Wood H. Smith II and Wanda A. Smith of Morro Bay, CA.</p> <p>Wood attended Carbondale High School in Carbondale, CO.</p> <p>He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served as an E3 on the USS Enterprise during the Vietnam War.</p> <p>Wood had been employed as a Quality Control Inspector in the Automotive Industry for about 15 years. He also had worked as a custom window and cabinet carpenter for many years.</p> <p>Wood &ldquo;Bud&rdquo; enjoyed motorcycles his entire life. Riding was one of his greatest pleasures in life. He also enjoyed collecting music of all types.</p> <p>Wood grew up enjoying camping, hunting, and fishing. He shared his love of nature with his children during their many camping trips.</p> <p>&ldquo;Bud&rdquo; was a hard-working man and always willing to step up to help his family and friends.</p> <p>Wood was preceded in death by his father, Wood H. Smith II.</p> <p>Wood is survived by his wife, Vicky; three sons, Wood H. (Amy) Smith of Gilroy, CA, Christopher (Val) Lange of Clifton, CO, and Jeremy (Lita) Lange of Grand Junction, CO; two daughters, Mrs. James (Lisa) Marx of Harper, TX, and Renee Collins of Grand Junction, CO; mother, Wanda A. Smith of Morro Bay, CA; four sisters, Maxine (Louis) Palmer of DeBeque, CO, Mildred Hedrick of Paso Robles, CA, Alice (Ted) Salkeld of British Columbia, Canada, and Teresa (Bruce) Morgan of Morro Bay, CA, and ten grandchildren.</p> <p>Contributions may be made in Wood&rsquo;s name to HopeWest.</p>
