Rudolph B Gamez, Sr. Obituary

Rudolph Benavidez Gamez, Sr., 93, went home to be with our heavenly Father on May 22, 2020. His devotion to his family and unwavering faith in our Savior Jesus Christ supported him through many struggles, including the loss of his beloved wife. This faith is what gave him peace and he thanked the Lord every day of his life in spite of the years of physical pain he endured. He passed away quietly, in his style for he was a quiet man. Rudolph was the youngest son born to Jose & Maria Gamez on April 6, 1927, in Kyle, TX. He attended school there until the 11th grade, at which time he quit school to go to work to help support the family. He was a hard worker and did various jobs. As a young man, he worked unloading train cars and delivering groceries. He was drafted on August 14th, 1945 during WWII, shortly after the 2nd bomb was dropped. When he returned from the military, he started working at Randolph Air Force Base where he retired after 33 years as an aircraft electrician. He married the love of his life, Hermenegilda DeLeon, on February 14, 1954. They moved to San Marcos in 1955, where they raised a family of six children who remain close to this very day. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Hermenegilda DeLeon Gamez and their stillborn daughter. Rudolph is survived by his 3 daughters and 3 sons: Martha Zuazua (Carlos), Rueben (Olivia), Roger (Anita), Mary Hilda Armendariz (Tony), Maurina Debo (David), and Rudy Jr. (Lisa); his seventeen grandchildren Christian (Danielle), Alexandra (Mike), Blanca (Adam), Rueben Jr (Marcie), Richard, Roger Jr, Randolph, Anissa, TJ, Eric (step), Casey (step), Joshua, Zachary (step), Matthew (step), Loren, Morgan and Jourdan; his three great grandchildren Cooper, Elle & Sienna Mary. He was preceded in death by his 3 brothers, sister and parents. Rudolph will be buried next to his beloved wife at the Garden Of The Cross Cemetery in Memory Lawn Memorial Park, Martindale, Texas. The family appreciates your prayers, condolences and memories.
