Carolyn Sue Spidle, age 85, of Mattoon passed away at 4:00 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2020 at her residence. Graveside services honoring her life will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Zion Hill Cemetery. Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the family. Carolyn was born on April 6, 1935 in Windsor, IL the daughter of John R. and Mary E. (Major) King. She married Robert Spidle on June 2, 1952. He survives. Other survivors include her son, Rick (Vickie) Spidle; daughter, Sue (John) Morris; granddaughter, Carla (Kent) Mohr; grandson, Kyle Dean; great-grandchildren, Aly and Logan Poani; step great-granddaughter, Sophie Mohr; and sister, Norma Hostetter. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lori Spidle; grandson, Nathan Spidle; twin sister, Marilyn King. Carolyn enjoyed crocheting, camping, gardening and spending winters in Texas. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies in Mission, Texas. Most of all, Carolyn loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
