Charlene Taylor Obituary

Charlene M. Taylor, 91, of Parsons, died at 12:03 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2020 at the Presbyterian Manor. She was born October 4, 1928, in Parsons, to Charles and Florence (Brophy) Diskin. She graduated from Parsons High School and attended Parsons Junior College. She and Murland “Mike” Taylor were married on May 8, 1949 and they spent 71 devoted years together. Her faith was a very important part of her life. She belonged to St. Mary’s and then St. Patrick’s Catholic Church where she was an active member and served in the Altar Society. She was a Girl Scout leader and a Cub Scout den mother. She had many interests. She loved playing cards, was a good bowler and was quite the dancer. She and Mike could “cut the rug” on the dance floor. Charlene was an excellent cook and an avid sports fan, but most of all a devoted wife and mother. Family was her priority and she loved spending time surrounded by kids and grandkids. She was the heart and soul of the family. She is survived by her husband, Mike, of the home; children Charles “Chuck” Taylor (Coleen) of Kona, Hawaii, Marilyn Taylor of Olathe, Karen Stein (David) of Wichita, John Taylor (Toni) of Paradise, Texas, Jane Dick (David) of Parsons, Tim Taylor (Char) of Stone Mountain, GA, Ken Taylor (Rhonna) of Parsons and Becky Taylor of Atlanta, GA and 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Mary Kay Diskin, Florine O’Reagan and Lucille Banhart. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, with Fr. Curtis Robertson officiating. The Rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m., Wednesday, at the church just before the Mass. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may sign the register at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home from 10 a.m., to 8 p.m., Tuesday. Memorials are suggested to either St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or the Parsons Area Community Foundation. They may be left at or sent to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home at Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.
