George Bloodworth, 61, of Herrin, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday February 18, 2017 surrounded by his family and his beloved dogs. George worked at Roland Machinery. He was a heavy equipment field mechanic. He excelled at his job. George took great pride in his work and loved the challenge of solving the tough jobs. He was a mechanic his entire adult life. When he was not at work, he had the golf clubs ready. George was a loving husband, sharing an unbreakable bond with Annette, his wife of 17 years. He loved being a father and was never more than a phone call away. He always had time for his children, no matter how busy he was. George loved his grandchildren with his whole heart. He loved them so much that he would have given them the moon had they asked. He was also a loyal friend. He wore many hats and treated each not as jobs but as something to be worn with pride and respect. He was very selfless in every aspect of his life. George was always laughing. You knew how much he cared for you by how much he picked on you. He promptly assigned a nickname to everyone who came to his home and used this name whenever he saw that particular person. If he wasn’t at home, you could find George working on a machine or helping his friends, Phil and Judy, on the golf course. He loved to stay busy. Friends and family relied heavily on his vast knowledge of DIY home projects. You were probably doing it wrong, but he was there every step of the way to supervise. Family meant everything to George. In addition to his wife, Annette Bloodworth, he is survived by his children: Leslie Smith and Lynn Bloodworth both of Herrin; Casey Bloodworth and his wife, Keri of Murphysboro and their mother, Debra McRoy and her husband, Greg (Lerch) of Marion; step sons, Dylan and Jacob Bloodworth of Herrin; six grandchildren: Lynon, Halah, Skylyn, and Giah Smith, Geordon Bloodworth all of Herrin, Emery Bloodworth of Murphysboro; three siblings: Marti Emery and her husband, Randy, of Marion, Brenda Moake and her husband, Bill of Taylorville, William Bloodworth of Marion; sister-in-law, Donna Bloodworth of Marion; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Lloyd and Thelma Maetta Bloodworth; two brothers, Jerry and Dale Bloodworth all of Marion; son-in-law, Chad Smith of Herrin. Funeral services will be at 11:00a.m. on Wednesday February 22, 2017 in Union Funeral Home – West Frankfort, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00a.m. on Wednesday February 22, 2017 at the funeral home prior to the service.
