Bette Tweed Obituary

Bette (Clute) Tweed, 92, of Tolna, ND passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at the NCHS Hospital in McVille, ND while under Hospice care.

Bette was born on January 9, 1928, in Hamar ND to Stuart and Olga (Hatlestad) Clute. She attended elementary school in Hamar, and high school in Warwick and Pembina. She graduated from Pembina, and went on to get her teaching certificate at Mayville College. Bette taught at the Minco Valley School, rural Hamar. She also worked at the Tolna bank, and helped out at Don’s Market, also in Tolna.

Bette married Monroe Tweed on June 2, 1951, in Junction City, Kansas where Monroe was stationed in the Army. They moved to their farm in rural Tolna, where they raised their family. They continued to live at the farm until retirement, when they moved to Tolna.

Bette enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and always had little surprises for them. She attended all of their activities when she was able to, and was their biggest fan. Bette enjoyed watching Twins games and knitting, and she loved her sweets. She was also skilled at finding four-leaf clovers, and was always one to pick up a lucky penny.

Bette is survived by her children, Debbie Walen, Grand Forks, ND, Marcy (Bruce) Kjelgaard McHenry, ND, and Jill (Dave) Morken, Pekin, ND. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jeff Walen, Warren, MN, Amy (Keith) Johnson,  Glenfield, ND, Paul (Rachelle) Morken, Minneapolis, MN, Michael (Jen) Kjelgaard, McHenry, ND, Sara (Brent) Adrian, Warwick, ND, Casey (Brian) Strand, Pekin, ND, Lucas (Abby) Morken Fargo, ND, and Brody (Catie) Morken, Fargo, ND; great-grandchildren: Cody Bakken and Serena Walen, Jacob, Josie and Kylie Johnson, Landen and Lisa Kjelgaard, MacKenzie, Ryleigh, and Kodie Miller, Max and Molly Adrian, Sophia and Julian Morken, Hadley and Hannah Strand, and Bennett Morken.

Bette was preceded in death by her parents, Olga and Stuart, brothers Charles Clute and Don Clute, sisters Florence Myhre and Dorothy Erickstad, and son in law Wayne Walen.

Bette was a very special lady, and will be deeply missed.
