John Adam Powers

John Adam Powers, 92, of Tripoli, Iowa and formerly of Ray Township, Michigan, died on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at the Tripoli Nursing Home in Tripoli. John was born December 4, 1924, in Mount Clemens, Michigan, the son of John Adam and Marion Winifred (Crawford) Powers. He attended high school in Mount Clemens and graduated from Mount Clemens High School in 1942. After high school, he worked for his father's cement company, Power Transit Company. John was united in marriage to Dorothy Mahaffy on April 12, 1947, in Berville, Michigan. In May of 1962, John started working for Ford Motor Company in Romeo, Michigan as a test driver. John retired in July of 1987, after 25 years with Ford. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking and gardening. John is survived by his two daughters, Nancy (Nathan) Nordin of Buffalo, New York and Linda (Kevin) Rotz of Tripoli, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Gary (Pam) Watson, Amy (Joe) Morales, Amanda Johnson, Gregory (Mary) Nordin, Leanne (Brad) Buchholz, Kyle (Elizabeth) Rotz, Kenneth Rotz, Jennifer Nordin and Elizabeth (Brian) Ashley; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; and a sister, Karen (Al) Clarey of Mount Clemens, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; two children in infancy; his brother, Jim powers and his sister-in-law, Vi Powers. John's wishes were to be cremated. Memorial services for John are on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with instate starting at 10:00 a.m. at Tiffany-Young & Hauss Funeral Home, Modetz Chapel, 73919 S. Fulton, Armada, Michigan. Inurnment for John and Dorothy will take place immediately following the service in Meade Cemetery, Macomb Township, Michigan.  Please join the family at the AmVets Hall in Armada for a luncheon following the services for John. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly is assisting the family. (319) 352-1187
