Charles Edward Dial, Sr. Obituary

Charles Edward Dial Sr., Air Force veteran and long-time Y-12 employee, departed this life Nov. 16, 2016. He was born Oct. 15, 1930 in Loudon County. He is preceded in death by his mother, Anna Pearl Wilson Dial, father, James Oliver Dial, infant sister, Martha Helen, brothers Ralph Dial and Coy Ray Dial and sisters Marynelle Evans of Lenoir City and Hazel Cliff of Fredericksburg, Va. He graduated from Lenoir City High School in 1948 and enlisted in the Air Force, where he participated in 18 nuclear tests at Eniwetok Island and at Yucca Flats, Nev. He retired after 35 years in machine maintenance at Y-12. He was an amateur radio operator with the call sign W4CED. He spent most of his adult life working on genealogy and is a charter member of 'The First Families of Tennessee,' a member of the Sons of the Revolution and of Avery Masonic Lodge #593 F & AM, where he was a 62-year member. He was baptized at First Baptist Church of Lenoir City, Oct. 13, 1940. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nell Hill Dial, son Charles Edward (Ed) Dial Jr. and his wife Jolene White Dial, of Farragut; daughter Lisa Dial Marcum and her husband Ed Marcum of Knoxville; grandchildren Jennifer Dial, Bradley Dial, Christopher Dial and Andrew Dial and sister Frances Dial of Lenoir City. A graveside service will be held at a later time with burial in Lakeview Cemetery, Lenoir City, Tenn. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Click Funeral Home, 109 Walnut Street, Lenoir City is in charge of arrangements. Interment: A graveside services will be held at a later time with burial in Lakeview Cemetery in Lenoir City.
