Kerry Lee Pollock Obituary

Kerry Lee Pollock, 61, died January 17, 2018, at North Kansas City Hospital. He was born June 18, 1956, in Stafford, KS. He was raised by his parents Carl and Barbara Pollock. He went to grade school in Larned, Kansas and enjoyed playing many sports, running all over town, and visiting grandparents.

His family moved to Madison, Wisconsin, where he liked playing ice hockey. They then moved to Silver Spring, Maryland where he enjoyed running through town to train for cross country and track. He also played basketball with the Boys Club. He attended Montgomery Blair High School where he played basketball and ran cross country and track. Following high school, he attended Bridgewater College in Virginia and Ft. Hays State University where he graduated with a degree in Physical Education. He taught P.E., science and upper elementary and coached volleyball and soccer at Christian schools in Hays, Wichita, Ft. Dodge, Iowa and Kansas City.

He married Peggy Love on June 28, 1980, in Hays, KS. They had three children; Willie, Katie and Lindsey and an infant daughter who went before him to heaven.

Kerry was preceded in death by all of his grandparents, an infant daughter and foster son, Willie. He is survived by his wife, Peggy of Pleasant Valley, MO, daughters; Katie and Forrest Thurman of Garden City, MO and Lindsey Birch of Liberty, MO; parents, Carl and Barbara Pollock; brother, Kevin and Alice Pollock; six grandchildren; Colby, Logan, Forrest, Fallyn, Fineas and Felix, father- in- law, Don Love, brothers and sisters- in- laws; Steve Love, Linda and Dan Zimmerman, John and Laura Love, Nancy and Verle Willey, Julie and Rodney Hinds, three nieces and one nephew.

Kerry fought a thirty-year battle with kidney disease and had many meaningful connections with other patients and medical staff.  He loved praying for others and encouraging them. 

A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 21, 2018, at Jesus Church International, 4214 NW Cookingham Dr., Kansas City, MO.  Memorials may be given to the Kerry Pollock Memorial Fund at Davita Northland Dialysis, 2750 Clay Edwards Drive-Suite 100, North Kansas City, MO 64116.
