Lawrence McArthur Jones Obituary

On April 1, 1966, in Macon, Mississippi, Lucy Jones Brown and Ervin Stewart received one of God’s greatest blessings—a bouncing baby boy, who they named Lawrence McArthur.

On the crisp, chilly Spring night of March 19, 2018, Lawrence left his earthly home to be with his heavenly and earthly Fathers in heaven. Also preceding him in death were his grandparents, Russell and Christine Jones.

Lawrence was a fun-loving person who enjoyed cooking. He was his family’s Bar-B-Q King and soul food cook. He was always willing to prepare a meal. Lawrence attended Noxubee County Schools. He was formerly employed as a security guard and by Hydrovac. He later honed his skills as a carpenter.

A loving farewell is made by his children, Brandon Jones of Jackson, MS, and Oleathea Johnson of San Lorenzo, CA. Cherishing his memory, his mother, Lucy Jones Brown of Columbus, MS; brother, Alphonso (Rosie) Jones of West Point, MS; sisters, Belinda (Melvin) Scales of Caledonia, MS, and Ethel Jean Macon of Columbus, MS; two grandchildren; Lisa Jones; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives.
