Shirley Jean Wakefield, 83, of Lyndonville, NY, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 4, 2015, at the Medina Memorial Hospital.
Born on September 28, 1931, in Lyndonville, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Lena (Chaffee) Helsdon.
Shirley grew up in Lyndonville and attended the IDM School in Rochester. On August 25, 1951, she married the late Milford Wakefield, together raising four children.
She retired from VB Applesauce and was a member of the Yates Baptist Church; she enjoyed farm working and china painting.
She is survived by her four children, Gregory Wakefield of Medina; Jeffrey (Wanda) Wakefield of Moravia; Kent Wakefield of Barker; Gary (Sandy) Wakefield of Lyndonville; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; sister, Gloria (William) Woodroe of FL. and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she is predeceased by a brother, Lee Helsdon and a son, Bruce

There are no calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Lynhaven Cemetery.
