Flora Nell Smith
Flora Nell Smith “Flo” departed her life on January 28, 2017. She was born in Osceola, AR on July 18, 1952 to Joe Chandler and Mary Louise (Hudson) Chandler. She was six of twelve children and 1 of 6 girls. Flora graduated class of 1970 from Osceola High School. She then attended Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR for 2 years before she entered the United States Air Force in 1972. She was stationed at Scott AFB (Illinois), Hickam AFB (Hawaii), Eaker AFB (Blytheville, AR), Zweibruken Air base (Germany) and then TSGT Flora Smith retired from the military at Peterson AFB (Colorado) after serving her country for 20 years. Flora married William Howard Smith on October 22, 1976 and recently celebrated her 40th wedding anniversary on October 22, 2016. She was a mother of two: Her first born was her beloved son William Howard Smith II (Doc) and her youngest is her daughter Mickileta Leilani Smith (Mick Mick). Flora enjoyed cooking for family and friends during holidays. Christmas was her favorite holiday, as she enjoyed putting up her Christmas tree every year and decorating the house while listening to the Temptations Christmas album. She enjoyed card parties, BBQ’s and spending time with family and friends. She lived for a good game of spades, Bidwiz and dominos. She loved to bowl and spent several years on a bowling league. She dedicated her Sundays to cooking Sunday dinner and watching football. She also loved watching westerns. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her husband William H. Smith, her daughter Mickileta Smith (Monique), 4 sisters: Shirley Chandler Powell (William) of Memphis, TN; Theresa Chandler Lenzy (George) of Blytheville, AR; Carolyn Chandler Middlebrook (Michael) of Blytheville, AR; and Marie Chandler Doss of Little Rock, AR; 2 brothers: Milton Chandler of Rock Island, IL; Jeff Chandler of Osceola, AR; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.July 18, 1952 - January 28, 201707/18/195201/28/2017
