Virginia Lee Held

Virginia Lee Winters-Held Born October 3, 1924, Virginia Lee Winters in Vallejo, California to Jess and Margaret Winters. Virginia has an older sister of 2 years Dorothy Lucille Winters and an older brother of 13 years Ralph Winters. Both have proceeded Virginia in her home going. Virginia attended Vallejo schools and graduated from Vallejo Senior High School in 1942. Virginia attended Sacramento Junior College for 1 year. At age 20 Virginia joined the Army Air Corps in October 1944-1946 joined support of our country during WWII attended basic training in Des Moines, IA. Virginia was a Sergeant and worked as a clerk and typist, for the Air Inspector with the Air Force. Married Julius Robert Held in San Francisco, California on October 1954. On September 6, 1959 Virginia’s life was changed forever when she gave birth to her first daughter Jean Ann Held, and again on September 24, 1964 Lora Lee Held. Virginia was a mother and house wife, volunteering with Camp Fire Girls and worked for the Herlong Middle School board. Robert her husband has his home going in 1980 and a few years later Virginia left California and moved to Arizona to be near her sister Dorothy Winters-Meserva at Happy Trails in Surprise Arizona where she lived for 30 years. Virginia is survived by her 2 daughters, Jean and Lora, 2 sons-in-law, Jack and Clyde, 4 grandchildren Alicia, Rachel, Kenneth and Elisabeth, 3 great grandchildren Dylan, Sadie and Waylon, sister-in-law Alma Winters as well as numerous nieces and nephews and special cousins. Virginia has had a long and eventful life. Virginia will be missed by many friends and family. Virginia is remembered for speaking her mind.
