Beulah "Sister" A. LaPan Obituary

SWANTON – Beulah “Sister” A. LaPan, age 75, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at St. Albans Health and Rehab surrounded by her family. She was born in Saint Albans on January 15, 1945 to the late Judd & Beulah (Berger) Maskell. Sister had a very caring soul. She spent many years serving as a member on the Missisquoi Valley Rescue Squad, and she took great pride in feeding countless MVU students’ meals every day and treating them like they were her own children. She also enjoyed being part of local community groups such as; the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Abenaki Nation of Vermont Tribal Council. Sister loved volunteering at Nativity Bingo and Bingo events put on by the Swanton Fire Department. She also loved bowling with family and friends and gambling at Akwesasne Casino and in Atlantic City. Above all, Sister loved to gather with family, friends and good food. Her macaroni soup and goulash will forever be missed. She is survived by the love of her life, Larry LaPan Sr.; her son, Larry LaPan Jr. and his wife Shonda; grandchildren, Shane LaPan and his significant other Amanda Moreau, and Tara Ouimette; great granddaughter, Kimber Mariah LaPan; special friend and like a sister, Theresa Jarvis; special niece, Bobbi Jo Magnan; and several other nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents, Sister was predeceased by her brothers, Arthur, Fred, Roy, Carlton, Billy, Jimmy, Ronnie and Terry Maskell. A celebration of Sister’s life will be held at the convenience of her family when restrictions are lifted. For those who wish, contributions in Sister’s memory may be made to Missisquoi Valley Rescue, P.O. Box 22, Swanton, VT 05488.
