Leonard Green Obituary

Leonard Green (aka Jaspa-Louie) was born on August 7th 1948 in Saint Elizabeth Jamaica West Indies to Irene (Gayle) and George Green, he was the youngest of 6 children 4 boys and 2 girls. Leonard spent most of his early years in the Parish of Saint Catherine, where he attended Jericho Primary School. Leonard, although not a licensed contractor was very handy, so he was instrumental in building his mom a home. His mom was so proud of him and he was also proud of himself. Leonard aka Louie migrated to the US to join his sister Daisy who was then living in Hartford CT. He lived on Nelson St. in Hartford when he first arrived in the US. It was there he met a friend who could not remember his name Louie, so she started calling him ‘Jaspa’ which was a little confusing to the family because unknown to his friend, he had a brother in JA with that name. However, that’s how he was given the name Jaspa and the rest is history. Jaspa loved gardening whether it be flowers or his beautiful callaloo and scotch bonnet peppers in his backyard. He also enjoyed a good game of Dominoes, and you could find him playing the game with his friends most evenings. Jaspa had a long successful career as a Machine Operator which began at The Stanadyne Division in Windsor and later on to Ensign Bickford in Simsbury CT where he spent 28years until his retirement in 2011. Jaspa was married to his longtime friend and life partner Rhonia aka Donna for 35 years and together they have 6 children (all boys) Leonard Jr, Leon, Lisane (Gillian), NahShon (deceased), Ravi, Oshane (deceased) 14 grandchildren (6 boys & 8 girls) brother Canute of Hartford and sister Adassa of St Catherine JA, special Nieces, Nephews, Cousins other relatives and Friends. Besides his parents and his 2 sons, he was also predeceased by 1 sister and 2 brothers. Gone too soon You’ll be sadly missed by your families and friends.
