Jessie Joe Savage Obituary

A memorial service for Jessie Joe Savage will be held on Thurs, Feb. 2 at 2:00 pm at the First Christian Church of Van Alstyne. Mr. Savage was born 89 yrs. ago on Nov. 29, 1927 to Carl and Lucy Savage in Van Alstyne. He died Jan.28, 2017. He is preceded in death by Joy Savage, his wife of 5o yrs., Carl and Lucy Savage, his parents, Frank and Harry Savage, brothers. He is survived by Sondra and Richard Gilbert, daughter and son-in-law, of Livingston, Tx. Jennifer and Jason Barrows, granddaughter and husband, of The Woodlands, Rebecca Barrows, great-daughter and Grady Barrows, great grandson, both of The Woodlands. Nephews, Kenneth Savage, Wills Point, Tx, Tommy Savage, Anaheim, CA, Steve Bass, Hurst, TX and Paul Bass, Hurst, TX Jessie and Joy resided in Dallas for 21 yrs. During that time, Jessie was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone. They moved back to Van Alstyne in 1970. After 30 yrs. of service, he retired from A T&T. He continued to work on his farm and with his cattle. Jessie was the fourth generation of the Savage family to farm land in Grayson County. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His family and friends will miss his humor and witty personality.
