John Guy Burr Obituary

John Guy Burr, 72, of Walloon Lake had 9 lives, unfortunately he used his 13thlife on 4/21/2020 at home surrounded by his wife, children, granddaughter and puppy dog “Ms. Buttons”.

John was born on 10/23/1947, in Petoskey, the son of Guy & Lila Burr.

In 1974, John married his wife Shelley Argetsinger. They have been married for 45 years.

John worked hard his entire life, as a heavy machine operator.  He spent many years playing as hard as he worked and expected the same from all of those around him!

Tough on the outside & soft on the inside, John was the most giving man you would ever meet, and never asked or expected anything in return.  John was a man of few words, but as animated as they come.  If you do not have a memory of a “Johnism” to share, then you were not paying attention!  He was full of brilliant one liner’s that those close to him will get good use out of for many years to come!

John could be found over the years working on cars, collecting treasures, having coffee at the store, bonfires & camping with great friends, hunting, fishing or carving a work of art out of wood!

John was a great role model to his son’s Rob & Brad, his favorite daughter-in-law Amy, his granddaughter Mya (Roy) and his many nieces & nephews, who were all lucky to walk away with many great stories and tons of memories! John was considered a great friend to many.

John is survived by his wife, Shelley Burr; children, Rob Eichler (Amy) and Brad Cooper; granddaughter, Mya Eichler, Siblings Sal Biallas (Willard), Carol Kepler and Peg Usher; many sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws; many nieces and nephews; and extended family.

Proceeded in death by his mother & father, Guy & Lila Burr.

This really could go on and on, many stories to tell and memories to share.  At a future date there will be a Celebration of Life for John, please stay tuned for more information.

In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make donations to the Charlevoix County Humane Society or the Food Pantry in Boyne City.
