Elizabeth "Libby" Lawson Tate Obituary

Mrs. Elizabeth “Libby” Lawson Tate, 72, of Winston-Salem, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017. Libby was born May 7, 1944 in Guilford County to Hardin and Frances Lawson. She worked for many years as a nurse and spent several years as a triage nurse at Wake Forest Baptist. A woman of strong Christian faith, she was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church where she especially enjoyed attending Sunday School. Above all, Libby loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. Her best times were spent with them, and she will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Libby is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Robert A. Tate, Jr.; children, Robert Keith Tate and wife Deborah, Jeff Tate and wife Karena, and Amy Tate Small and husband Bobby; grandchildren, Samuel Keith Tate and wife Tiffany, Michael Tate, Holly Elizabeth Small, and Hannah Beth Small; great-grandchildren, Dakota Lynn Tate and Lucas Keith Tate; sisters, Chrystal Lawson Pierce and Claudia Kay Bonds; and aunt, Peggy Jean Saunders. A celebration of Libby’s life will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 10 am at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. A private family interment will be held.
