Robert W. Lutz Obituary

Robert W. Lutz, 84, of 28 West Avenue Mt. Carmel passed away Sunday January 29, 2017 at his home. Mr. Lutz was born November 3, 1932, the son of the late Russel J. Lutz and Katherine S. (Diehl) Lutz. He graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1950 and joined the United States Navy, in which he served until 1953. In 1953 he returned to Mt. Carmel and started a long career at the First National Bank, where he worked for the next 43 years, retiring in 1996 as the senior vice-president. Mr. Lutz was also active in many community service organizations including the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2110, the American Legion Post 91, The Anthracite Fire Company, and for many years he served as the treasurer of the Mount Carmel lodge of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks lodge#356. He is survived by his wife Margaret, his sons, the Reverend Randall Lutz; Terrance Lutz and his fiancé, Leeanne McCormick; Robert W. Lutz, Jr.; Michael Bradley; and Colonel Leo Bradley (USA, Ret.), and his wife Alexandra, and son Leo C. Bradley; his brother Fredrick, and his wife Dolores; and their sons, Fredrick, and his wife Kathy; Jonathan and his wife Diana; and Kenneth and his wife Kathy, and several grand nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his older brother Gerald R. Lutz. Family and friends are welcome to offer their sympathy from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and join in a celebration and thanksgiving of his life starting at 11a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2017 at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home 40 South Market Street Mt. Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz, III Supervisor. Interment will follow with military honors at Saint Joseph’s Cemetery in Locust Gap. The celebration of life will be officiated by his son, the Reverend Randall R. Lutz, assisting priest at St. Bede’s Episcopal Church, Santa Fe, NM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Mount Carmel Area Public Library, 30 South Oak Street, Mount Carmel, PA 17851, or Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School, 2001 Clinton Avenue, Coal Township, PA 17866.
