Sylvia Maxine Ellis, 74, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 8:40 P.M. Sunday, January 29, 2017 at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born Monday, October 26, 1942 in Blytheville, Arkansas to parents, Eules & Juanita Reese. She married Larry Ellis, Sr. on May 28, 1967 in Blytheville, Arkansas and he survives. A Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois. Maxine is survived by her husband, Larry Ellis, Sr. of Mount Vernon, Illinois; 3 sons, Mickey Ellis and wife, Christina of Orlando, Florida, Odell Ellis of Mount Vernon, Illinois, and Larry Ellis, Jr. and wife, Janet of Mount Vernon, Illinois; 2 daughters, Pamela Wall and husband, Jim of Creal Springs, Illinois and Angela Ellis of Sandoval, Illinois; 13 grandchildren, Jamie, Christopher, Thomas, Sylvia, Debbie, Larry III, Christopher, Crystal, Tony, Nicki, Courtney, Cody, and Logan; several great grandchildren; sister, Imogene Olson and husband, William of Shreveport, Louisiana; brother, Robert Reese of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Debra Yvonne (Ellis) Schultz; brother, William (Pedro) Reese; and sister Charlene Thoarp. Maxine enjoyed watching old westerns on TV, espeically John Wayne, and loved spending time with her family.
