Visitation and buffet luncheon will be from 11am – 1pm Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, 1900 8th Street North, St. Cloud for Beth B. Thompson, age 90 of St. Cloud who passed away Sunday peacefully surrounded by family at Quiet Oaks Hospice House in St. Augusta. A family committal service will be held on Friday at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls. Beth was born in Howard Lake, MN to H. Archie and Sarah Elizabeth (Brewster) Overturf . She graduated from Hamline University as a registered nurse. She married Earl F. Thompson on March 16, 1947 in Herman, MN. She and Earl moved to Kiester, MN where they raised a family and she worked in nursing in Albert Lea. She later moved to St. Cloud and continued nursing, working in an Ophthalmologist clinic for many years. She was a mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her family. Beth loved cats, baking cookies and Christmas candies. She was famous for her chocolate chip cookies. She loved chocolate and always had chocolate around to eat. Her favorite colors were red and yellow. She was a direct descendant of Elder William Brewster, who came over on the Mayflower. Beth was always happy and had a great sense of humor. She and Earl were active in square dancing and they taught and cued round dancing for many years though ETTA in St. Cloud and the central Minnesota area. She was a Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan and always enjoyed listening to games on the radio. Her grandchildren were very important to her. She enjoyed watching old John Wayne movies. Beth was a great seamstress and enjoyed making dresses for her granddaughters. Survivors include her sons, Dave (Mary) of St. Cloud, Jim (Marilyn) of Twin Falls, ID, Mark (Toni) of St. Joseph and daughter, Becky Lawhorn of Fairview, OR; sister, Helen Haffa of Heber, AZ; 4 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Earl (2001), sisters, Mary Jipson & Shirley Henrichs and an infant brother.
