Mrs. Aileene McAlister, age 88, of Rockmart passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017 in a Rome medical center following several months of declining health. She was born in Chatsworth, GA on June 7, 1928 a daughter of the late Allen Burton Ridley and Rosie Elizabeth Couch Ridley. Mrs. McAlister had lived in the Taylorsville and Rockmart area all of her life where she was a homemaker. She loved Jesus. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Monroe McAlister and by two sons: Red and Tom McAlister. Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Andrews; two sons: Kenny (Cindy) McAlister and Charles McAlister; a number of grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Hulsey officiating. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 12 noon until the funeral hour at the funeral home. The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Mrs. Aileene McAlister.
