ARCHILLE “ARCHIE” ROBERT COUTURIER: died July 4th at the home of Glenn and Linda Streeter, Lunenburg, VT. He was born October 31, 1934 in Whitefield, NH, the son of Achille Joseph and Rosa (Dube) Couturier. Archie attended Whitefield Elementary and High school and graduated in June of 1955. He enlisted in the US Navy after graduation and was honorably discharged in 1959. His basic training was in Little Creek, VA. He took radio school in Norfolk, VA, where he was certified as Radioman Third Class in 1959. After he was discharged he returned to Whitefield and began working at the Mountain View House where he caddied in the summer months and then went to Belleview Biltmore in Clearwater, FL and the Breakers in Palm Beach, FL, as a bellhop in the winter months until 1967. In the fall of that year he began working at Brown Street Furniture where he became foreman until his retirement in 2002. He married Glenna Newell Glidden in 1967 and became step-dad to her four children, Allen and Diane (Smith) Glidden, Barnstead, NH, David Glidden , Whitefield, Glenna Ingerson, Jefferson, NH, and Linda and Glenn Streeter, Lunenburg, VT. The couple had 52 very happy years together. They enjoyed their cross country trips together and covered all US states except N. Dakota, Louisiana, and Hawaii. Archie loved to go trout fishing in nearby streams, especially near his brother’s camp on Hazen Road in Whitefield. He was an ardent gardener both with vegetables, berries and helping Glenna with the numerous flower beds that surrounded their very sweet gingerbread style cape house on Bray Hill Road. He enjoyed family gatherings for birthdays, Christmases, New Years Eve, Fourth of July etc. He had moved to McIntyre Apartments after the sale of their home and enjoyed three years there where he made many friends. He called Bingo weekly for a couple of years there and would often be found sitting afternoons in the “Pow Wow” with his friends. Archies’s sense of humor was enjoyed by all he met and he could tell a joke that would leave your sides aching. He was a very tender hearted gentlemen. He was pre-deceased by Glenna (Newell) Glidden October 22, 2014, his seven brothers, Leo, Adrian, Rosaire, Arthur, Amie, Orian, Eddie, three sisters Bella Mooney, Gloria Poweres, and Achilline Frechette.

He is survived by his step children, a sister Albina Ingerson, Whitefied, NH, 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, July 12, from 1-3 PM, at the Ross Funeral Home, Whitefield Chapel, with a service at 3PM with Pastor Dean Stiles. A graveside service will follow at the Park Street Cemetery. To offer your condolences to the family please visit www.rossfuneral.com
