Obituary
CHESAPEAKE – Gloria Jean Tackett Stublen, 87, of the 1000 block of Elysian Place passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017. She was born on September 24, 1929 in Flatwoods, Kentucky to the late Clayton and Nora Tackett. Jean was a wonderful wife and mother, who was devoted to her family; and she will long be remembered for her faith, hospitality and generosity; and cooking was a favorite pastime. Jean belong to the World Order of China Painters and was a member of Laurel Ave. Church of Christ and the Kempsville Chapter #173 of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she was Worthy Matron from 1985-1986. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Alma Brown, Lucy Hart and Betty Gilbert and four brothers, Claud “Skeeter”, Les, Carl and Billy Tackett. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 68 years, John P. Stublen, Jr.; her daughter, Belinda S. Kelk; three sons, Wayne Stublen and wife Vicki, John “JC” Stublen and wife June and James Stublen and Wife Michelle; a brother, Lloyd Tackett; ten grandchildren, Peyton Alexander, Patrick Stublen, Jason Stublen, Tom Savage, Tyler Stublen, Daniel Stublen, Bert Adams, Kelly Galin, Brian Adams and Keelie King; 14 great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Friday, January 27, 2017 in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 – 7 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Myeloma Research Foundation.
