Norma P. “Pat” Smith, 88, of Carlisle Township, passed away Sunday January 22, 2017 at UH Elyria Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born June 1, 1928 in Elyria and was a Carlisle Township resident for most of her life. Pat was a member of the LaPorte United Methodist Church where she sang in the church choir, and she enjoyed flower gardening. Survivors include her daughters, Vicki Maeder (Mike Szekley) and Wendy (Jim) Wintrich; sons, Jim (Ann) Smith and Ron (Tracy) Smith; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Bruce Foster. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin in 1998, son Barry in 2006, sister, Roberta Yost and brother, Rick Foster. The family will receive friends Thursday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Specialists 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Bill Wendell, pastor of LaPorte United Methodist Church will Officiate. Burial will be at LaPorte Cemetery.
