Velma Bailey

Velma was the only daughter to the union of Wallace Shamel and Elmus Bellamy Shamel. She was the second born of nine children. She was educated in the Tennessee school system. She was born June 15, 1926 in Indian Mount, Tennessee. At an adult age, Velma followed several of her brothers to Cincinnati where she worked as a housekeeper at several hotels (Cincinnatian and Carousel) until her health no longer permitted. Her favorite past time was her plants and gardening. Velma was preceded in death by her parents (Wallace and Elmus Shamel); brother, James Aeron Douglas, Sr., Walter Linn, Branden Lee, Sr., Ellis (Chuck), Felton, and Willie Wesley. She leaves to cherish her memory, brother, Eugene; sisters-in-law, Bettye, Linda, Inez, Leola and her husband, Frank J Bailey; her children, James (JoAnn) Shamel, Belinda (Brannan) Pearl, Roy (Bernaedette) Shamel, Alfred (Delores) Shamel; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grand children and 3itht great-great- grandchildren; a host of nieces , nephew, and other family and friends. Visitation is from until 10:00 am on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Walker Funeral Home, 1013 E McMillan Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45206. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Interment will follow Walnut Hills Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio.
