Tonya Lei Mashek

Tonya Lei Mashek, age 43, a former resident of Ft. Scott, Kansas and more recently of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Shawnee. She was born October 24, 1973, in Nevada, Missouri, the daughter of Lee George Mashek and Vicky Marie Durbin Mashek. While in Ft. Scott, Tonya had been employed by Med Plans for eight years as a claims examiner. She enjoyed spending quality time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed doing cross stitch and Sudoku puzzles. Survivors include her three children, Daniel “D. J.” Mashek, of Pittsburg, Vicky Martin and husband, Shane, of Pleasanton, Kansas and Dakota Mashek, of Fredonia, Kansas, and five grandchildren, Karma, Shailynn, Anthony, Shandler and Daxton. Also surviving are a brother, Bill Hurd and wife, Wendy, of Ft. Scott, Kansas a sister, Jody Sandness and husband, Marc, of Prague, Oklahoma, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandma Shirley, parents and a grandson, Malachai Mashek. Rev. Ron Brown will conduct a graveside service at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 22nd at the Centerville Cemetery. Friends and family will meet at the cemetery. Service are under the direction of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, Ft. Scott.

I worked with Tonya many years, I always liked her. She was outspoken and right to the point. I appreciate that in a person. My prayers go out to her family. Rest in peace girl.
